Shrimp Ceviche

The shrimp is “cooked” by marinating in citrus juices, most commonly lime or lemon. The acidity of the citrus juice causes the proteins in the shrimp to denature. This gives it a cooked texture without using heat.

How to make Shrimp Ceviche
Besides the shrimp and citrus juice, Ceviche usually includes a mix of ingredients. These include diced tomatoes, onions, cilantro, and sometimes avocado. Other common additions are diced peppers (like jalapenos and habaneros) for a bit of heat. The dish is often seasoned with salt, pepper, cumin, and sometimes a splash of hot sauce.

The result is a zesty, bright, and tangy dish. It has a balance of freshness from the shrimp and the crispness of the vegetables. It’s often served chilled, making it an ideal appetizer or light meal, especially on warm days. #cookingshow #ceviche

Shrimp Ceviche Spices

What to serve with Shrimp Ceviche
Shrimp Ceviche is a refreshing dish that pairs well with various accompaniments. Here are some popular options:

1. Tortilla Chips: Crispy and salty add a great crunch and are perfect for scooping up the ceviche.
2. Tostones or Plantain Chips: These offer a slightly sweet and crispy contrast that complements the ceviche nicely.
3. Coconut Rice: A mild, slightly sweet rice dish. It can be a great base or side to soak up the ceviche.
4. Corn Tortillas: Warm tortillas can wrap up the ceviche for a bite-sized treat.
5. Pico de Gallo or Salsa: Fresh and zesty, these can enhance the flavors of the ceviche.
6. Lettuce or Cabbage Slaw: Adds a crunchy texture and fresh flavor that complements the ceviche.
7. Fresh Lime Wedges: A squeeze of lime just before eating can enhance the citrusy notes in the ceviche.

8. Cucumber Slices: Refreshing and crisp, they offer a cool counterpoint to the ceviche’s zesty flavors.
