Crunchwrap Supreme

A Crunchwrap Supreme is a fast-food creation from Taco Bell that is a one-handed delight. We are making our own version, but giving homage to Taco Bell.

Our version features a large flour tortilla. It is folded around layers of taco-seasoned ground turkey, cheese, corn, black beans, tomatoes, and sour cream. It is grilled to perfection for a crispy, golden-brown finish.
The homemade version often includes customizable fillings. You can add shredded cheese or guacamole. Swap the beef for ground turkey, chicken, or steak.

Tex-Mex vs Mexican Food
Tex-Mex and Mexican cuisine share some similarities, but they have distinct differences in ingredients, flavors, and origins.

- Tex-Mex Cuisine – Tex-Mex is a fusion of Mexican, Spanish, and American influences, originating in Texas. It often features:
- Flour tortillas instead of corn tortillas.
- Yellow cheese, like cheddar, while Mexican cuisine typically uses white cheeses like queso fresco or cotija.
- Cumin is a key spice that is less common in traditional Mexican cooking.
- Ground beef is a staple protein, while Mexican dishes often use slow-cooked meats like carnitas or barbacoa.
- Sweet corn and canned beans which are more American additions.
- While Tex-Mex borrows from Mexican flavors, it has evolved into its distinct cuisine.
Mexican Cuisine – Authentic Mexican food is deeply rooted in indigenous and Spanish traditions, emphasizing:
- Corn tortillas are the foundation of many dishes.
- Fresh ingredients like tomatoes, chilies, cilantro, and lime.
- Slow-cooked meats and seafood, often grilled or stewed.
- Complex sauces like mole, which blend chocolate, chilies, and spices.
- Regional diversity, with coastal areas favoring seafood and central regions specializing in hearty stews.
- Some dishes commonly mistaken for Mexican but Tex-Mex include nachos, burritos, and Chimichangas.
