Grilled Peaches, topped with Vanilla Ice Cream (Outdoor Grilling Party Dessert)

The dessert course at our Outdoor Grilling Party was grilled peaches with a dollop of vanilla ice cream. Couldn’t be simpler.

4 slightly under-ripe peaches, halved and pitted

Canola oil for brushing the fruit

salt and pepper.

(Graeter’s) Vanilla Ice Cream for topping the grilled peaches

Brush the cut sides of the peaches with canola oil and lightly season with salt and pepper. Grill cut-side down, covered, until charred, about 3 minutes. You need to be vigilant and watch the fruit closely. You don’t want it to burn, just lightly char.

Flip over and continue grilling, covered, until soft, about 2 minutes longer. Arrange the peaches cut-side up on a serving platter. Serve Ice cream or whatever topping you like on the grilled peach (or other stone fruit).

We, of course, used #Graeters Vanilla Bean Ice Cream ( ). Graeter’s is a Cincinnati institution. Most Cincinnatians will tell you when comparing Ice Creams that there is Graeter’s and then there is everyone else.

Grilled fruit is a treat. It’s a lot like grilling a pizza – sounds strange in concept, but once you do it, it becomes part of your cooking repertoire.
